Self (2021) series is part of the wide artistic research of Chiara Dynys around the concept of identity. The work also recalls the mirror, emblem of self-representation and trap, according to the artist, in which often seeing oneself does not mean recognizing oneself. Self was born from these premises and has its roots in the originsof Dynys’ work: painting. The canvases are made throughdense material brushstrokes of gold, silver, titanium and copper. Eachelement of the multiple contains a letterof the word “Self”,subsequently recomposed through the use of color, different for each letter in each painting. Only the 4 canvases together areable to constitute one of the units of the work. Each multiplebecomes a metaphorical, abstract, essential mirror and each of itsof its variants presents unique, different characteristics: 100possible solutions of the self.
