MASTER OF MISTAKES (2022) is one of the most representative work by Daniele Sigalot. Presented for the first time at La Galleria Nazione di Arte Moderna e Contemporaneain Rome, the artwork represents the symbolic union of all the ideas that have been abandoned, rejected. The sculpture is a sphere, made up of thousands of crumpled sheets of paper representing all artist’s mistakes putting together. In appearance fragile and papery, it is actually solid and metallic, made of aluminium and steel and weighing over five quintals. The artwork translates and reveals the aesthetic paradox through the lightness of paper and its embodiment in the material being of metal. Those ideas over time add up to incompleteness but which, by coming together, find the strength to escape their inevitable fate. The artwork become an ode to the unfinished, to the imperfect, to the inevitable error, but also an inner dialogue that traces Daniele Sigalot’s creative and artistic journey where mistakes become experience, dialogue, thought, form.
