Alternate Present

Alternate Present

The series Alternate Present (2021 –ongoing) is a further development of Alternate Future (2014 –ongoing). These sculpturesare made of acrylic resin, and all have the same repeated form of a thick sheet of crumpled paper, but each features distinct color combinations. Thecolorsareapplied on the rough surface of the sculptures with a 3D method, where colors molecules are superimposed at various angles, making different colors visible at different times, in relation to the position of the observer in the space and the changing oflight sources. This method of color application gives vibrant sculptures fluctuations of color, a natural, realistic quality that reacts continuously to changing constantly to shifting light, and which makes the physicalmaterial artificial, almost devoid of texture and substance, almost digital. The artists explore the systematic process of reproduction in a non-hierarchical order of equivalent forms, where color is used to investigate spatial-temporal dimensions of a quantum physical reality where there is no preponderant logic but only a set of possible relationships. The series of “Alternate Future” moves along a potentially infinite horizon of governed by probability and chance. Therefore, the series has no sequential numerical order, in fact, it started with Alternate Future 777#, to refer to the idea of a non-lineartime to the idea of a non-linear time, in which several possible futures can coexist at the same time in different dimensions.
